As the name suggests, this is a complicated, troublesome install.

Lite Simple XP comes bundled with some useful applications:

  - Firefox v3.0.3

  - Adobe Reader Lite v9.0.0

  - K-Lite Codec Pack v4.2.5

  - Nero Lite v8.3.6.0

  - Office 2003 Lite

  - NOD32 v2.70.39

  - WinRAR v3.80

 ________________________________________________________________________

 Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3:

  - aimed for speed and efficiency

  - functionality maintained

  - thanks to eXPerience

 ________________________________________________________________________

 Recommendations:

  - max out screen resolution (for LCDs)

  - adjust font size in display properties

  - adjust input language in regional options

  - adjust time zone in date and time properties

  - install wanted applications from the $EXTRA$ folder

  - install wanted drivers using the included driver installer

Windows XP, a potential survivor to both Windows Vista and Windows 7.
You've heard it right! this includes every driver since the release of XP.

Before installation, unused devices should be disabled so as to avoid driver conflicts and to keep Windows as lite as possible. By example, disable onboard audio in the BIOS if you already have a dedicated audio card, or else if you have two graphics cards both plugged in either physically unplug the unused one or disable it in the device manager.

Once you've booted from the CD (takes a few minutes), create a system partition big enough to hold both Windows and the program files. Once inside Windows itself, you'll be able to create logical drives (using the disk management tool) and take the rest of the space back. I'd suggest doing a quick NFTS format because the normal one performs the additional step of verifying HDD health (which takes extra time). If you're serious about your data, you should instead routinely scan for errors using HD Tune.

The whole setup process usually takes about half an hour. When it's done and you're back on the desktop, remove the CD and begin with the driver installation (takes about an hour), then reboot and enjoy your fresh new operating system.

You're welcome to publish your own updates to this. ;)
is there like eXperience sidebar, vista bootscreen? and is there swedish language? kind regards
just curious.... what is so different about this compared to eXPerience releases?

are there integrated tweaks ?
I would love to download it... but I don't own any DVD's Go figure that this is almost 2mb too big. I might come back to get it later for shits and giggles.
LC-scan....I burned this onto a cd. Go figure
Looks great! This is how 'home-brewed' O/S's SHOULD be released(additional apps on disk, but not streamed into the install) JMHO.
This release seems like it's the 'cream o the crop' right now. A painless and speedy installation. And it ROCKS like there's no tomorrow. I think the next time I install it I would opt out of the driverpack install though(takes a while). It's a great idea for people who are to lazy or technologically-challenged to find/install their own drivers. Great work frozenCat32!
first it began when I took the initiative of doing a survey on phone with people I knew. e.g. do you prefer file to be hidden, what theme do you like best, and small things like that.

I've too talked with many security experts, and the synthesis is that windows firewall is enough, because the whitelist-based approach of comodo is not yet developed enough, and that enabling defense+ is all too nagging for the end user. the conclusion is that, if you want to keep your system out of malware, only download file from sources you really trust. i.e. downloading winrar from thepiratebay from a torrent with half a million downloads is usually considered safe.

so, the idea is that if you abstain from being influenced by your own curiosity, the windows firewall equals security as you want it. else, if you like to download programs, either use sandboxie or full-blown defense+ then deal with the complexities of the Windows experience.

furthermore, the Windows Firewall has "allow no exceptions" ticked by default. this single tweak do the same as your router, that is, protecting you from the outside world, plus help by-default protect people which for some obscure reason do not possess a router.

eXPerience and me had over the years a progressive separation. well, not in the sense that we were once united, but in the sense that I've been giving him suggestions on how to enhance his release and he liked to reject every of them.

the real thing I think that has spawned this project (which began two years ago, by the way) the way it is now is eXPerience not listening to me while I told him the registry fix to the wallpaper problem. he has still not listened to me for his last two TinyXP releases, plus people seem not even complain. the bug fix is included in this release.

this release is a kind of community work. I tried to make it as clean as possible, and as simple as possible for a good start, but this is my last release and people are welcome to contribute to the continuation of the project if they wish. in other words, you have my permission to take this creation further.

I want to make it clear that this isn't by any means my own creation. it's the result of decades of accumulated work time, primarily from Microsoft, but also from eXPerience, software developers and driver compilers (that is, the team at bashrat's that are getting all the drivers for you).

Did you know, if you install this release ten years from now (provided XP is still supported by driver makers), you will be able to update the driverpacks with the included update link and with a few clicks install updated drivers instead of the deprecated ones, i.e. the ones included on the CD.

This release is my contribution to the idea of keeping Windows XP alive. As I see it, Vista nor 7 nor future OSes will ever offer something so new as to justify moving over to them. We already have bought XP, so why bother for a little extra eye-candy? the thing I stress is that most of the added features are not essential to the average end user. if Microsoft adds product X for future Windows releases, why not add it in XP in the form of a downloadable software? because of the revenue. Microsoft have done valuable work in the field, but they should stay with the security patches IMO and stop forcing people into buying 7 using arguments as directx 10, for example. the possibility for future directx versions to be programmed compatible with XP's kernel and for drivers to be developed compatible with XP twenty years for now is there. it all depends if people remain as naive as to move in the bandwagon of future Windows release for the sole purpose of upgraded interface.

people want to move into next-gen. people obey to their own creativity, this is why they are downloading 7 as we're talking, and this is why they keep having to reformat their PC every three months. at least, this release may simplify their lives :)

you asked me what was new. I think this is a good overview, but the real thing that is new here is the idea. Simple XP is there to stay. the included Nero versio
Ideas (if not already implemented):

* Make sure the driverpacks unzip sequentially rather than simulaneously or they'll overload the RAM memory of older, slower machines. (This means you have to wait five to ten minutes in order to close the errors.)

* USB printer support should be enabled by default. Too many people need this.

* I hope the alternate mouse cursors are in this one. The white arrow sucks.
seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
@frozenCat32

Differences between this and the v2.03 RC??
SEEEED......
does anybody knows how to activate it ? windows 7?
Thank you DaMoose74 for letting my know of my idiocy. I'm downloading right now at a great speed (imo) of 206 kb/s and rising still yet. It'll take about an hour, And I'll seed it all through the night and while I'm at work, hopefully that'll seed it about twice. At that point I'll install and see how it works. Thanks for the upload either way. I'll probably be back a 3rd time too comment on quality and how it works.
Works perfectly.. Best xp on the net... thx....
This was stolen from eXPerience and tweake
d
@gobble3666

Yeah...I didn't really notice that it said that. After installing this and using it, I would day it was/is anything but complicated or troublesome.
Hi, I'm using TinyXP Rev 09 right now and the biggest question I have is what is the problem with it and wallpapers exactly?
Looks like an interesting build. Will give it a shot as I am running an older system and need to save on resources as much as possible.

Thanks for the u/l.
WKT
I'd also like to know the wallpaper bug in TinyXP.

In this release, I do miss Acronis True Image and Hiren Boot CD.
no cd-key required for this one? i just dont want to start the format and figure it out myself!
SimpleXP include all drivers, but on startup XPsetup not supporting SATA drives :). I must use floppy.
With tinyXP - i dont get this problem.
What's the password for the *.rar file?
Frozencat, when you come out with v2 of this, please reinstate the choice of installation type that TinyXP had. Use 7zip instead of WinRAR. (And driver scanning shouldn't take an hour.)
Driver packs do not automatically install off the CD after Windows is done installing. This will fuck many people up.
*Sigh* ...I'm sorry, but I have to give this an "F" for Fail. The drivers are just a pain in the ass. TinyXP installed on a clunky old Dell Optiplex P3 just fine; Simple XP, despite taking end endless amount of time to install a bazillion driver (after I manually launched the process), can't find the darn "unknown" things during the hardware-scan to follow.

This sucks.

If anybody out there knows exactly which pieces of a SimpleXP install to move over in order to restore mouse-cursors and wallpapers to TinyXP, please inform in a follow-up post.
@Jarllax: Why should I wait for an hour with drivers in SimpleXP when TinyXP installs way faster and better? I think you deserve an F for fail...
thanks! pretty similar to TinyXP tho
I too don't think this does any bad. nor do I see any reason for exp not giving his consent to this besides he not knowing if this is virus-free (like TINYXP, which is great too):
http://thepiratebay.ee/torrent/4206516/TinyXP_Rev09_-_eXPerience

but my personal preference remains this one. it has nice stuff... like in about:plugins there are less plugins so that might free some memory for those who need it most. As DaMoose74 said:

This release seems like it's the 'cream o the crop' right now. A painless and speedy installation. [...] Great work frozenCat32!
Do you know why eXP doesn't include programs with TinyXP? Because people prefer different programs so he'd have to include every app under the sky and THAT would be bloat.
THIS IS THE BEST TORRENT EVER!!!!!!!! I COULD KISS U!!!!!!!
This download rocks!!!!! I installed in in no time at all and the installer didn't require input. I hope that's good. THX THX THX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am trying to figure out how this is "stolen from eXperience"...

Releasing a derivative of software while giving credit to the others that help/founded/whatever is hardly "stealing".

Also, I doubt many of you are using legit keys to run your modified xp installs. Why don't you ask microsoft if they mind since you're so concerned about stealing.

:)
" James1o1o at 2008-11-24 19:09 CET:
BULLSHIT. This is a fucking rip of TinyXP. You discarace eXperience's work. Do u even have his permission to use this?"

Lmao a pirate asking if a pirate has permission to use a pirate's illegal work.

nice one James.

If someone wants to pirate a pirates pirated work then who cares.
Does it pass the Windows Genuine Advantage test? Can it be updated? Thanks.
Thx for the reply Jarllax.
Why didn't you include Opera instead of Firefox?

And why Adobe Reader, Foxit Reader is much lighter and smaller.

And why Nero? That's a very bloated app!

And why WinRAR? 7-zip is even free so no need for a crack.
ntoskrnl : lol. Are you running a pc built in the 90's with hardly any ram or something????

LOL!!!!!! Winrar is a good program and Acrobat wont slow your pc at all if the pc is anything decent, which many computer geniuses here on TPB have.
IM sooo into speed too man, but jeez.. just clean out your startup menu and clean your registry every so often.. your comp will be ok!
@Dannieloco:

My computer is superb... 8GB of RAM and a quad core @ 3.4GHz.

I still run Foxit Reader on this system because Adobe Reader is too heavy and runs slow(er that Foxit) even on this system. Foxit is even smaller to download and install.

And stripping an OS means that it becomes lighter and faster, and even smaller to download and install.

So why are you commenting on a TinyXP based OS when you prefer heavy, slow and large applications?

And BTW, my previous post was sarcastic, but that might have been somebody's true opinion. I just demonstrated why applications shouldn't be forcedly installed with an OS.
Ummmmm I think you left one thing off the NFO - the credits.

eXPerience made the original TinyXP and you don't mention eXPerience anywhere.

You also forgot the forum link to SRN, how could you forget that, og you accidentally just highlighted the bottom of MY NFO and accidentally deleted the forum link?

Don't forget folks, join SnipeR's Redemption Network, the original place for TinyXP...

Hi guys..
I have an Asus EEE PC900 with linux inside. I wanna try the XP on it now and hope It will work as fast as the linux.

The thing is, eee pc900 dose not have any cd-driver. So my question is, Can I run this installation from a memory stick? would the computer be able to recognize the usb plug outside the windows?
Worked great - I think the whole download and drivers were done in about 30mins.
Thanks.

But.....
AVG8 reports a few "nästies"

1. In Nero Key Generator.exe in the $EXTRA$\Application Pack\ - - reports Trojan Horse SHeur.CLBO""

2. This also shows up in A00004870.exe under the directory \System Volume Information\_restore{.....

3.cmdow.exe in \WINDOWS\system32\ shows up as "Potentially harmful program HideExec.BD"

Now, since the whole object of rebuilding was to eliminate malware, it would be be kind of nice if a new build was available without these viruses. :-)

I know it's a big ask, but, any chance ?

Thanks anyway.
Richard.
Downloading now.
Looks tight.
For future version you should have McAfee anti virus software instead. That is the best one.
I wasn't too worried about those "nasties". Just thought I'd comment on them really so you could answer in advance in case anyone else got worried by them. Thanks for the quick reply.

As for adding McAfee - not really likely as that is commercial product! AVGFree8 perhaps ? Seems to be pretty well reviewed.

====Not Working in Workgroup Network=====
One problem I'm working on at present though.
My PC now seems unwilling/unable to share files or printers with other PCs on the Workgroup.
- Other PCs can see my PC, but not my shared drives and printers.
- I can add shared discs on other PC's to my NetWork places, but when I go to drill down into the folders, I get a message ""Not enough server storage is available to process this command". After the usual message of ""... is not accessible. You might not have permission...."
I've re-run Network wizard on each PC.
Internet is via a Router shared between PC's.
No easy visible sign of Windows firewall. Is it running ? AVG* running, fully patched. Simple XP fully patched from Microsoft Update (except .Net 1.1 which just did not want install! But .Net 2.0 is installed, so do I really need .Net 1.1 ?)

Apart from the small problem of Simple XP not having Help and Troubleshooters (been trimmed I guess as too space consuming), is this an issue you have come across before. Do other people have Simple XP working in a Worgroup network ?

Which do you reckon are the best forums for discussing this topic ?
Already checked "Simple File Sharing".
On standard XP I've been using file and printer sharing successfully for ages, with just the occasional glitch easily fixed by using the (absent in SimpleXP) troubleshooters.
What I really wanted to know/needed assurance of is that SimpleXP is working with Workgroup sharing for you, for others. Can you confirm that ?
SEEEEEEEED!!!!
It's simple to install and does install, but runs slower than the Bill Gates version.
new at this can't open or write to CD trying to update old ME system please help
well, i'm upgrading to Xp FROM WIN 98 XD
Jarllax, thanks for your kindness & help.
this is a great distro and it's not slow at all. gaytorbayt was probably too stupid to install drivers
this is really a great windows! thank you so much!
looks sweet, thanks!

you might want to replace adobe reader with foxit reader though... acrobat sucks ass
Hello, and thanks to all for the suggestions. All of them have been taken into account.

This is frozenCat32. This is just to tell you that this release has been superseded by tinyxp-se.

http://thepiratebay.ee/torrent/6273384/tinyxp-se.iso

Thanks to all of the seeders. This has been quite-greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the suggestions. Bye.
